Beacon in Minecraft: build the pyramid and pick the right power
×1 Tested 26.3 The Iron Ingot is the metal of the mid game: you get it by smelting Raw Iron from iron ore, and it goes into iron tools and armor, buckets, shears, rails and most redstone machines. It is usually the first real upgrade after stone.
It is made with the Crafting Table from Block of Iron (other recipes also exist).
What it does
Iron covers the essentials of survival. Three ingots make a Bucket for water, lava or milk, two make Shears, and a full set of iron armor and tools is the standard gear before diamonds. Four ingots around redstone dust give a Compass, five make a Minecart, and a Hopper needs five more around a chest.
Nine ingots pack into a Block of Iron, which you can turn back into ingots at any time. Iron blocks are the base of the Anvil and of iron golems, and both the blocks and the ingots work for a Beacon: the blocks in its pyramid, an ingot as the payment that unlocks its powers. On the smithing table, iron is also one of the trim materials.
An iron ingot used on a damaged Iron Golem repairs it and restores 25 health points. Golems themselves drop three to five ingots, which is why iron farms are built around them. Nine Iron Nuggets, the leftovers of smelted iron tools and armor, also make one ingot.
