Iron Helmet item in Minecraft
The Iron Helmet is made from five iron ingots; it gives 2 armor points and lasts 165 hits. As a helmet, this piece of armor protects your head and is the only one that takes the enchantments for breathing and working under water.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 5 × Iron Ingot.
What it does
A helmet goes in the head slot. Besides Protection, Unbreaking and Mending, it is the only piece that takes Respiration, which lets you stay under water longer, and Aqua Affinity, which removes the mining penalty under water. Together they make underwater building and ocean monument raids much easier.
The head slot can also hold a Carved Pumpkin or a mob head instead of a helmet. A pumpkin keeps endermen calm when you look at them, at the cost of a narrow view and no protection.
On a smithing table, an armor trim template adds a pattern to the helmet in the color of your chosen material. Helmets wear down as you take damage and are repaired on an anvil with their material.
