The Rail is the plain track, sixteen from six iron ingots and a stick, and the only one that curves. Rails guide Minecarts across the world and can be laid on almost any solid block.
It is made with the Crafting Table from Stick and 6 × Iron Ingot. It is mined with a pickaxe.
Rails connect automatically to their neighbors and climb one block per block forward on slopes. Plain rails also curve at corners, while the three special rails stay straight and react to redstone. A good track mixes plain rails for distance with powered rails to keep speed.
Rails pop off if the block below disappears, and water washes them away. Abandoned mineshafts are full of plain rails ready to collect.

hoppers at the bottom, rails above them, dirt on top.
At night, bring an adult zombie with empty hands in a Minecart on rails (or in a boat), stop above the open centre column and break the cart:
| shape | north_south · east_west · ascending_east · ascending_west · ascending_north · ascending_south · south_east · south_west · north_west · north_east |

| waterlogged | true · false |
At the Crafting Table: 1 × Stick and 6 × Iron Ingot give 16 × Rail. Mining the block drops it. It can be found as loot in Mineshaft.
It is a track piece that guides minecarts.
The fastest tool is the pickaxe.
