Iron Chestplate item in Minecraft
The Iron Chestplate is made from eight iron ingots; it gives 6 armor points and lasts 240 hits. As the chest piece, this armor gives more protection than any other part of a set.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 8 × Iron Ingot.
What it does
A chestplate covers the largest part of the body, so it carries the most armor points of a set and is the piece to upgrade first. It takes Protection, Fire, Blast and Projectile Protection, Thorns, Unbreaking and Mending.
The chest slot is also where the Elytra goes, so flying means giving up your chestplate. Many players keep both and swap them before and after a flight.
An armor trim template on a smithing table decorates the chestplate with a pattern in the color of the chosen material. It wears down as you take hits and is repaired on an anvil with its material.
