How to build an iron farm in Minecraft (26.x)
A compact Java iron farm: 3 villagers on beds, 1 zombie, a water-fed floor and a lava blade over a hopper. Exact layers, materials and expected output.
The Iron Golem is the big guardian of villages. It attacks hostile mobs on sight, leaves peaceful players alone and only turns on you if you hurt villagers or the golem itself. You can build one with four blocks of iron and a carved pumpkin.
// Experience drops only when a player kills it. Speeds are the game’s internal values, not blocks per second.
Damage to a player without armor, by world difficulty. 1 ♥ = 2 damage points.
// Armor, Protection and Resistance reduce these values. Base values read from the game code (26.3).
Doesn’t spawn naturally in a biome: it comes from a structure, a spawner, a block or an event.

/summon minecraft:iron_golem ~ ~ ~Place four blocks of iron in a T shape: one on the ground, three across on top of it. Then put a carved pumpkin or a jack o'lantern on the middle block of the top row. The pumpkin has to be placed last, and the two spaces next to the bottom block must be empty. If the shape is right, the blocks turn into a golem.
Every normal village is built with an Iron Golem. Villagers can also summon new ones on their own when they feel threatened, for example when a zombie is nearby. This is what iron farms are built on: a group of villagers, a zombie they can see but not reach, and a kill zone where the golems end up.
Golems at Pillager Outposts sit in cages. Break the cage and the golem fights the illagers around it.
As it loses health, an Iron Golem shows more and more cracks. Use an iron ingot on it to heal it and remove the cracks. It takes no fall damage, so moving one down a cliff is safe.
An Iron Golem drops iron ingots and sometimes a poppy. Killing village golems by hand is a poor trade: you lose your guardian and anger the villagers. An iron farm gives the same ingots without the risk.

No. Iron Golems never target Creepers, so they will not set one off near your base.
Use an iron ingot on it. Each ingot restores part of its health and removes some of the cracks.
In villages. Some generate with one, and villagers summon more when enough of them gather or panic. You can also build one: four Blocks of Iron in a T with a Carved Pumpkin on top. Some Pillager Outposts keep one in a cage.
