Panda mob in Minecraft
The Panda is a big, mostly peaceful bear of bamboo jungles whose personality changes how it behaves. It eats bamboo, only breeds when bamboo grows nearby, and its genes decide whether a cub turns out lazy, playful, worried or one of the rare brown ones.

Pandas spawn in the Bamboo Jungle and, less often, in the regular Jungle. They rarely stray far from the stalks they chew on. A panda also picks up bamboo and cake lying on the ground and eats them, so do not drop your cake near one.
What the personalities do
Every panda has a personality, listed in the variants above. Most of them change the way it acts, not how dangerous it is:
- Lazy pandas lie on their back and move slowly.
- Worried pandas get scared during thunderstorms.
- Playful pandas roll around and tumble over.
- Weak pandas have less health than the others.
- Aggressive pandas keep fighting when you attack them. The others hit back once, then calm down.
- Brown pandas act normally but are the rarest to come across.
How to breed pandas
Feed bamboo to two adult pandas. They only breed when enough bamboo is planted around them, so grow a patch next to your pen before you start. A lead does not work on pandas: to bring wild ones home, walk ahead of them holding bamboo, since they are slow and easily distracted by food.
The cub's personality comes from its parents' genes. Each panda carries two: one that shows and one that stays hidden. Brown and weak are recessive, which means they only show when a cub gets that gene from both parents. To breed brown pandas, start with a brown one, or with a panda hiding the brown gene, and keep pairing the brown cubs together.
Sneezing cubs and slimeballs
Baby pandas sneeze now and then, and a sneeze can push out a slimeball. The chance is very small, but a pen full of cubs is a harmless trickle of slime if no Slime spawns near your base. Killing a panda only gives bamboo, so there is no reason to hunt them.

Panda — FAQ
How do you breed pandas?
Feed bamboo to two adult pandas while bamboo is growing around them. Without enough bamboo nearby, they will not breed.
How do you get a brown panda?
Brown is a hidden gene. A cub is brown only when it inherits that gene from both parents, so breed pandas that carry it and keep pairing brown cubs.
Are pandas dangerous?
Rarely. A panda you hit strikes back once, only aggressive ones keep fighting, and a panda never attacks you first.
Where does the Panda spawn?
In Bamboo Jungle and Jungle.
What does a Panda drop?
Bamboo. It also drops the item it is holding.
