Jungle biome in Minecraft
The Jungle is the densest forest in the game: giant jungle trees with two-block-wide trunks, vines hanging everywhere and a floor of ferns, bushes and melons. It is slow to cross and easy to get lost in, but it is home to parrots, ocelots and the odd panda, and it hides the Jungle Pyramid.

Structures in the Jungle
What grows in a Jungle
The canopy mixes three kinds of trees. Giant jungle trees tower over everything on thick trunks covered with vines. Smaller jungle trees fill the gaps, and low jungle bushes, a single Jungle Log topped with Oak Leaves, cover the ground. Here and there a fallen trunk lies in the undergrowth, sometimes with mushrooms growing on it.
If you want Cocoa Beans, check the smaller trees: they are the ones that carry cocoa pods, the giant trees never do. The ground also hides patches of Melons, ferns, tall grass and a few clumps of bamboo.
Parrots, ocelots and the Jungle Pyramid
Parrots only spawn in the Jungle and the Bamboo Jungle. Tame one with seeds and it rides on your shoulder, but never feed it a Cookie: cookies are poisonous to parrots. Ocelots hide in the undergrowth. You cannot tame them, but if you stand still holding raw cod or salmon, they come closer and start to trust you, and Creepers keep away from them. Pandas can show up too, though they are rare here.
The Jungle Pyramid is a mossy stone temple half buried in leaves, with traps and hidden loot. Trail Ruins can also lie buried under the jungle floor.
Tips for the Jungle
- Climb to find your way. Vines are climbable: get to the top of a giant tree to see where you are going.
- Grow your own giant tree. Four Jungle Saplings planted in a square grow into a giant tree, a huge supply of wood.
- Start a cocoa farm. Cocoa beans only grow on jungle logs. Plant them on the side of a trunk, then mix them with wheat for cookies.
