Birch Forest biome in Minecraft
The Birch Forest is a bright forest made only of birch trees, with white trunks and wildflowers scattered on the ground. It is the easiest place to stock up on birch wood, and its short, straight trees are quick to chop, even with your very first stone axe.

Structures in the Birch Forest
White trunks and wildflowers
Every tree here is a birch: a straight white trunk topped with a small round crown. Now and then a birch has fallen and lies on the ground, sometimes with a mushroom on top. Under the trees, the grass is dotted with Wildflowers, small flowers that grow in clusters of one to four. You also find poppies, dandelions, tall flowers such as Lilac and Peony, and a few Bush clumps. Near water, look for the Firefly Bush.
Why come to a Birch Forest
- Easy wood. Birches are short and have no branches, so you can cut most of a trunk while standing on the ground. A Birch Log gives Birch Planks, a light wood that works well for bright interiors.
- A simple tree farm. A Birch Sapling always grows into the same compact tree, which makes birches easy to farm.
- Yellow dye. Wildflowers craft into Yellow Dye, and so do the dandelions that grow here.
- Bees, rarely. A few birches carry a Bee Nest, but don't count on many.
Animals, dangers and neighbours
Birch Forests have no wolves and no rabbits, only sheep, pigs, chickens and cows. At night the usual hostile mobs spawn. The shade under the crowns also keeps Zombies and Skeletons alive after sunrise, so check your surroundings before you leave your shelter in the morning. A rarer variant, the Old Growth Birch Forest, grows much taller birches: if the trunks around you suddenly stretch far above the usual height, you have crossed into it.

Abandoned Camp, Mineshaft, Ruined Portal, Stronghold and Trial Chambers.
