Deep Cold Ocean biome in Minecraft

The Deep Cold Ocean is the Cold Ocean with a much lower floor: dark blue water, tall seagrass and kelp over gravel, cod and salmon, and still no dolphins. It is one of the four biomes that can hold an ocean monument, which makes it a good spot for an underwater base powered by a conduit.

What makes it different

Everything you know from the Cold Ocean is here, only deeper. Salmon and cod share the water, kelp grows from the gravel and the seagrass is mostly Tall Seagrass. Dolphins still don't spawn. Because it lies between temperate and frozen seas, a Frozen Ocean or a snowy coast is often not far away.

The floor holds stone brick ocean ruins and shipwrecks, and this is one of the four deep biomes where an Ocean Monument can generate. With no dolphins to guide you, use the command above or the seed map to find them.

Building a conduit base

A Conduit lets you live underwater, and the deep cold sea supplies nearly everything it needs. Craft it from a Heart of the Sea, found in buried treasure, surrounded by eight Nautilus Shells. The Nautiluses that swim here drop them. For the heart, open the map chest of a shipwreck: it always holds a treasure map that leads to a buried chest on a nearby beach.

The conduit needs a frame of Prismarine blocks around it: prismarine, prismarine bricks, dark prismarine or sea lanterns. A monument is full of them. The bigger the frame, the wider the area it covers. Once the frame is big enough, the conduit gives Conduit Power to players in the water nearby: you breathe, see clearly and mine faster underwater. With a complete frame, it also attacks hostile mobs that come close, which keeps Drowned away from your base.
