Lush Caves biome in Minecraft
Lush Caves are the green caves of the Overworld: moss on the floor, vines and blossoms on the ceiling and clay pools full of dripleaves. They are the only biome where axolotls spawn and a great source of Glow Berries, moss and azaleas for builders and farmers alike.

Structures in the Lush Caves
How to find Lush Caves
Look for an azalea tree on the surface. It grows on top of a column of Rooted Dirt that runs down into a Lush Cave, so digging straight down under the tree usually brings you out in the cave ceiling, among hanging roots.
What grows inside
The floor is covered with Moss Blocks, short grass, moss carpets and azalea bushes, some of them in flower. Cave Vines hang from mossy patches on the ceiling, and some of them carry Glow Berries: they give off light, you can eat them, and planted under a block they grow new vines. Pink Spore Blossoms shed drifting particles from above.
Clay pools hold Big Dripleaf and Small Dripleaf. Stand on a Big Dripleaf and it tilts after a moment and drops you, unless it is powered by redstone. That makes it a fun trap or a parkour block.
Axolotls and the pools
Axolotls spawn in the water of Lush Caves, but only above Clay. Tropical fish spawn in the same pools, even deep underground. Scoop up an axolotl with a Water Bucket and you get a Bucket of Axolotl to carry it home. Axolotls attack drowned, guardians and most other underwater mobs, which makes them good allies for an ocean raid.
Hostile mobs still spawn in the darker corners, so light the cave up before you build in it.

Lush Caves — FAQ
Can you move Lush Cave plants to your base?
Yes. Moss spreads to nearby stone and dirt when you use Bone Meal on it, an azalea grows into a tree with Bone Meal, and Glow Berries planted under a block grow new Cave Vines.
Why do no axolotls appear in a Lush Cave pool?
Axolotls only spawn in water directly above Clay blocks. If the pool floor is made of another block, none will spawn there.
Which mobs spawn in the Lush Caves?
Spider, Skeleton, Creeper, Slime, Zombie, Enderman, Zombie Villager, Witch, Bat, Glow Squid, Tropical Fish and Axolotl.
Which structures generate in the Lush Caves?
Mineshaft, Ruined Portal, Stronghold and Trial Chambers.
How do you find the Lush Caves?
With cheats on, /locate biome minecraft:lush_caves gives the coordinates of the nearest one. Without cheats, a seed map of your world shows where it is.
