Lukewarm Ocean biome in Minecraft

The Lukewarm Ocean sits between temperate seas and warm ones. The water turns light blue, the floor becomes sand, and tropical fish and pufferfish mix with the cod. It has no coral yet, but its sandstone ocean ruins hide suspicious sand, the only place where you can find a sniffer egg.

Structures in the Lukewarm Ocean

Sand, seagrass and tropical fish

The floor of a Lukewarm Ocean is Sand instead of gravel. Kelp still grows, though not as thick as in colder seas, and seagrass covers the bottom in dense meadows. Squid, nautiluses and Dolphins swim in the open water. Feed a dolphin raw cod and it leads you to the nearest ruin or shipwreck.

The big change is the fish. Cod still spawn, but Tropical Fish in many colors and patterns and Pufferfish take over. Keep away from pufferfish: they puff up when you come close and poison you on contact. Don't eat them either: a pufferfish gives you Poison, Hunger and Nausea. Tropical fish are harmless and easy to catch with a water bucket. A Bucket of Tropical Fish is the food you use to feed and breed Axolotls.

Sandstone ruins and the sniffer egg

Lukewarm Oceans hold the warm type of Ocean Ruins: sandstone instead of stone brick, often in clusters. This type only appears here, in the Deep Lukewarm Ocean and in the Warm Ocean. Like the cold ones, their chests can contain a treasure map and emeralds. The real prize is in the Suspicious Sand around them. Work it with a Brush and you can get the Angler, Shelter and Snort pottery sherds and, rarely, a Sniffer Egg. Place the egg and a sniffer hatches from it, faster if the egg sits on a moss block.

Where the water warms up further, the coral begins: you have reached the Warm Ocean.
