Beach biome in Minecraft
The Beach is the strip of sand between land and ocean. It looks empty, but it is the only biome where Turtles spawn, and it hides Buried Treasure chests and beached shipwrecks. It is also a reliable source of sand, sandstone and sugar cane early in the game.

Structures in the Beach
What you find on a Beach
A layer of Sand covers the shore, with sandstone underneath, so a few blocks of digging give you both. Sugar cane grows along the waterline, with a little grass and a few flowers further up. On one side lies the Ocean, on the other the land biome the beach borders. In cold regions the game uses the Snowy Beach instead, and rocky coasts become a Stony Shore.
Turtles and their eggs
Turtles spawn only on beaches. Feed two of them seagrass to breed them: one returns to the beach where it hatched and lays Turtle Eggs on the sand. The eggs crack in stages and hatch mostly just before sunrise.
Protect them: zombies and other zombie types go out of their way to trample eggs. Mining an egg breaks it, unless your tool has Silk Touch. When a baby turtle grows up, it drops a Turtle Scute. Five scutes make a Turtle Shell, a helmet that gives you Water Breathing for a short time when you dive.
Treasure and wrecks
Buried Treasure is a chest hidden under the sand of a beach. It always contains a Heart of the Sea, the key ingredient of a Conduit. You find it with a treasure map from the chests of shipwrecks or ocean ruins: dig where the map shows the X.
Some Shipwrecks also run aground on the beach itself, half on the sand, which makes their chests easy to loot.

Turtle Eggs break when you mine them with a normal tool. Use a tool enchanted with Silk Touch to collect them and move them.

Which mobs spawn in the Beach?
Turtle, Spider, Skeleton, Creeper, Slime, Zombie, Enderman, Zombie Villager, Witch, Bat and Glow Squid.
Which structures generate in the Beach?
Buried Treasure, Mineshaft, Ruined Portal, Shipwreck, Stronghold and Trial Chambers.
How do you find the Beach?
With cheats on, /locate biome minecraft:beach gives the coordinates of the nearest one. Without cheats, a seed map of your world shows where it is.
