Use a shovel on Grass Blocks to make Dirt Path, then edge it with Coarse Dirt and Moss Block.

The Moss Block is the soft green ground of lush caves and pale gardens. Bone meal makes it spread across nearby stone and dirt, covering them in moss, grass and azaleas, which makes it a renewable building block.
It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests. It is mined with a hoe. It can be composted: each one has a 65% chance to add a layer to a Composter.
Use Bone Meal on a moss block and it turns the surrounding stone, dirt and deepslate into moss, with tufts of grass, moss carpets and the occasional azalea on top. A single block bought from the wandering trader is enough to start an endless supply.
Two moss blocks make three Moss Carpets, and one moss block with cobblestone or stone bricks gives their mossy versions. A hoe mines it fastest. Big and small dripleaves can be planted on it, and a Sniffer Egg placed on moss hatches about twice as fast.
It also composts well, and pale gardens have a gray cousin, the pale moss block, that spreads the same way.

Grass Block, Sand, Mud and Moss Block work as well.
Mining the block drops it. It can be found as loot in Shipwreck and Trial Chambers. Sold by Wandering Trader.
It spreads with bone meal, makes moss carpets and mossy stone, and speeds up sniffer eggs. It is an ingredient in 3 recipes, made at the Crafting Table; for example Moss Carpet, Mossy Cobblestone and Mossy Stone Bricks.
The fastest tool is the hoe.
Yes. Each Moss Block put in a Composter has a 65% chance to add a layer (the first layer in an empty Composter always works). After 7 layers the Composter gives Bone Meal.
No: when a piston pushes it, it breaks and drops as an item.
