Where bees come from

Bees do not spawn on their own. They live in bee nests hanging from oak and birch trees, most often in flower forests, meadows, plains and cherry groves. An oak or birch sapling that grows next to flowers can also come with a nest. During the day the bees fly out to flowers; at night and in the rain, they go back inside.

How to harvest honey without getting stung

A nest or beehive fills up as bees bring nectar home. When it is full, honey drips from its face. Then:

• Use a glass bottle on it to get a honey bottle.
• Or use shears to cut three honeycomb.
• First, place a campfire a little below the hive. Its smoke calms the bees, so they stay calm while you harvest.

Without smoke, the bees inside come out angry. The same happens if you break a nest. To move one with its bees still inside, mine it with a Silk Touch tool, then place it back near your flowers.

What honey and honeycomb are for

• Honey bottles restore hunger and cure poison. They also craft sugar and honey blocks, which slow down and stick to whatever touches them.
• Honeycomb crafts new beehives and candles, and waxes copper so it stops aging.

Bees on your farm

A bee carrying pollen helps crops, sweet berry bushes and cave vines grow as it flies over them, so a hive next to your fields speeds them up. Bees breed with any flower. Do not hit one: an angry bee stings, which poisons you on Normal and Hard, then it loses its stinger and dies soon after. Swing at a swarm and you lose your bees as well as health.
