Minecraft 1.15 “Buzzy Bees”

Released on 10 December 2019, Minecraft Java Edition 1.15 Buzzy Bees adds Bees, Bee Nests and Beehives, along with Honey Bottles, Honey Blocks, Honeycomb and Honeycomb Blocks. Iron Golems now crack when damaged and can be repaired, several changes match Java to the other editions, and Mojang now publishes obfuscation maps with every release.

Bees, nests and hives

Bee Nests spawn naturally in Flower Forests, Plains and Sunflower Plains, and Beehives are crafted from Honeycomb and planks. Mined with Silk Touch, a nest or hive keeps its bees inside.

Honey Blocks slow movement, cushion falls and carry anything standing on them when pushed by a Piston. Honeycomb Blocks are purely decorative.

On 10 December 2019, for Java Edition, under the name Buzzy Bees. Two bug-fix releases followed: 1.15.1 on 17 December 2019 and 1.15.2 on 21 January 2020.

How do you collect honey without angering bees?

Place a Campfire under the nest or hive to calm the bees, then use a Glass Bottle on it when it is full to get a Honey Bottle, or Shears to get Honeycomb.

Can you move a bee nest in 1.15?

Yes, with a Silk Touch tool: the nest or hive drops as an item with its bees stored inside. Without Silk Touch, a Bee Nest is destroyed.

Do 1.14 resource packs and mods work in 1.15?

Resource packs now use format 5, so packs made for 1.14 show as made for an older version until they are updated. Mods only load on the game version they were built for and need a 1.15 build.
