Honeycomb is what you get by using Shears on a Bee Nest or Beehive full of honey: each harvest gives three. It is the wax of the game, used to protect copper and signs, and to craft candles and beehives.
It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests.
What it does
Used on a copper block, door, trapdoor, grate or bulb, honeycomb waxes it: the block stops oxidizing and keeps its current shade of copper for good. An axe scrapes the wax off again. Waxing also works on signs, which can then no longer be edited by anyone, a simple way to lock a message on a server.
In crafting, a honeycomb under a string makes a Candle, three honeycombs between planks make a Beehive so you can farm bees anywhere, and four make a decorative Honeycomb Block. Waxed copper items can also be crafted directly by combining the copper item with a honeycomb.
Harvesting a nest with shears angers the bees unless a Campfire smokes them from below. Honeycomb also turns up in the chests of trial chambers, if you have no bees nearby.
