Candle block in Minecraft
The Candle is a small light made from a string and a honeycomb. Up to four candles fit in one block, each lit one adds light, and sixteen dyes give it every color of the game.
It is made with the Crafting Table from Honeycomb and String. It gives off light up to level 12, depending on its state.
What it does
A placed candle is unlit: light it with Flint and Steel, a Fire Charge or a burning arrow, and put it out again by using it with an empty hand or with a splash of water. A candle standing in water cannot be lit. Click a candle with more candles of the same color to group up to four in one block; four lit candles give a light level of 12.
Combining the plain candle with a dye makes a colored one, which is why the plain candle is the starting point of all sixteen colors. Candles are popular as table and altar decorations because they fit where a torch would look too big.
Placed on top of a Cake that nobody has eaten yet, a candle turns it into a Cake with Candle you can light. Candles also turn up in the chests of ancient cities.
