Vines are the climbing plants that hang from jungle trees, swamp oaks and cave walls. They spread on their own along walls and downward, and you can climb them like a ladder.
It is mined with an axe. It can be composted: each one has a 50% chance to add a layer to a Composter.
Vines need a solid block behind them, but they grow over time, sideways onto nearby walls and down into empty space below. Any vine you can touch works as a ladder, which makes them a quick natural way up a jungle tree.
Breaking vines by hand or with a tool gives nothing: only Shears collect them. Collected vines turn cobblestone and stone bricks into their mossy versions, and with paper they make a banner pattern with an indented border.
Vines catch fire easily and burn away. They count as replaceable, so you can place a block straight into their space, and they also go into a composter. The wandering trader sells them if there is no jungle nearby.
