Parrot mob in Minecraft
The Parrot is a small, colorful jungle bird that you tame with seeds. A tamed parrot rides on your shoulder, dances to music and imitates hostile mobs, but it cannot be bred, and a single cookie kills it.

Parrots live in the Jungle and the Bamboo Jungle, usually up in the trees or flying between them. Their color is picked at random, so taming several birds is the only way to collect every color. They take no fall damage and flutter down gently when they leave a branch.
How to tame a parrot
Hold seeds, for example wheat seeds, and feed them to a wild parrot. Each seed only has a chance to work, so keep feeding until hearts appear. Melon, pumpkin and beetroot seeds work too, as do torchflower seeds and pitcher pods.
Never give a parrot a cookie. It is poisonous to parrots and kills them on the spot, tamed or not.
The parrot on your shoulder
A tamed parrot that is not told to sit flies over and lands on your shoulder. You can carry two, one on each side. They stay there while you walk, build and mine, and hop off when you fall, enter water, go to sleep or take damage. Use the parrot to make it sit on a perch and stay put.
Parrots cannot be bred, so every bird you own is one you tamed. On a long trip, leave the ones you care about sitting at home: a shoulder parrot that hops off in a cave can easily get lost.
Music and mob warnings
Play a music disc in a jukebox and parrots nearby start to dance. More useful, parrots imitate the sounds of hostile mobs, more often when one is close. A Creeper hiss or a Zombie groan from your shoulder is worth a look around, even if it is sometimes just the parrot showing off.
