Oak Leaves block in Minecraft
These leaves belong to the common oak of forests and plains. Leaves form tree crowns, decay once no trunk is nearby, and drop saplings and sticks as they go.
It is mined with a hoe and drops Apple or Oak Sapling. It can be composted: each one has a 30% chance to add a layer to a Composter.
What it does
Natural leaves slowly decay when no log of their tree stands within a few blocks, which is why chopping the trunk makes the canopy fall apart. As they disappear, they sometimes drop a sapling or a stick, and oak and dark oak leaves can drop an Apple.
Breaking leaves normally gives only those drops; Shears or Silk Touch collect the leaf block itself, and a hoe breaks them fastest. Leaves you place yourself never decay. Mobs cannot spawn on leaves, they can hold water, and they burn easily.
