Oak Log block in Minecraft
This log is the trunk of the common oak of forests and plains. Logs are what you chop from trees, and every wooden item starts with them.
It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests. It is mined with an axe. As fuel it burns for 15 seconds in a Furnace, enough to smelt 1.5 items.
What it does
Break a log with an axe, or by hand if you have nothing else, and craft it into four planks. Placed again, a log lies along the axis of the face you click, which lets you build beams and pillars. An axe used on a placed log strips its bark.
Four logs in a square make three blocks of wood with bark on all sides. Overworld logs smelt into Charcoal and burn as fuel, while the stems of the Nether never burn.
