Ocelot mob in Minecraft
The Ocelot is a shy wild cat of the jungle. You cannot tame it like a pet, but you can earn its trust with raw fish: it then stops running from you, still scares Creepers away, and can be bred.

Command
/summon minecraft:ocelot ~ ~ ~Where ocelots live
Ocelots spawn in the Jungle and the Bamboo Jungle, usually around the trees. They are fast and flee as soon as you move toward them, so you see more tails disappearing into the leaves than actual ocelots. Look around the edges of a clearing, where the ground is open.
How to gain an ocelot's trust
An ocelot never becomes a pet that sits and follows you. What you get is trust:
- Hold raw cod or raw salmon and stand still. Quick movements scare it off.
- Wait until it walks up to you, then feed it.
- Repeat until hearts appear. From then on, that ocelot no longer runs from you.
A trusting ocelot still wanders on its own and never follows you. If you want one at your base, bring it back on a lead and fence it in, or it will slowly drift away.
Breeding ocelots
Two ocelots that trust you can be bred with raw fish. The kitten is born wild. Breeding is the easiest way to keep a group of ocelots in an enclosure, since catching wild ones in dense jungle is slow.
What an ocelot is good for
Like cats, ocelots frighten Creepers. Phantoms, however, only flee from cats. They also hunt chickens and baby turtles, so do not keep them next to your chicken farm or a turtle beach. They take no fall damage and move very quickly, which makes them hard to herd without a lead.
If you want a real companion that sits, follows you and brings back gifts, look for a cat in a village instead. An ocelot is the jungle version: useful as a guard animal, but independent.

Ocelot — FAQ
Can you tame an ocelot?
Not as a pet. Feeding it raw cod or salmon while you stand still makes it trust you, so it stops fleeing, but it never sits or follows you.
What do ocelots eat?
Raw cod and raw salmon, both to gain their trust and to breed them.
Do ocelots scare Creepers?
Yes. Creepers avoid ocelots just like they avoid cats. Phantoms do not: they only flee from cats.
Where does the Ocelot spawn?
In Bamboo Jungle and Jungle.
What does an Ocelot drop?
Nothing.
