Raw Cod item in Minecraft

Raw Cod is the most common catch of the game: you get it with a fishing rod or by killing the cod that swim in cool and temperate oceans. Eaten raw it barely feeds you, so it is meant for the furnace or the smoker.

It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests.

What it does

Raw cod restores only two hunger points and very little saturation; Cooked Cod gives five, with much better saturation. A campfire cooks it slowly without fuel, and a smoker does it twice as fast as a furnace.

Fish are also animal food. Holding raw cod makes stray Cats and ocelots approach, and feeding them is how you tame a cat or win an ocelot's trust. A tamed wolf eats it to heal, and a Dolphin given a fish swims off toward the nearest shipwreck or ruin and leads you to it.

To keep a live cod instead, use a water bucket on it to get a bucket of cod. A novice Fisherman cooks six raw cod for you in exchange for an emerald, and buys raw cod at the next level.
