Iron Spear item in Minecraft
The Iron Spear is a spear, a melee weapon with a longer reach than a sword. It stabs instead of slashing, and charging with it while running or riding turns your speed into damage. Made from iron ingots, it lasts 250 uses and is a solid weapon for mounted fights.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 2 × Stick and Iron Ingot.
What it does
A spear reaches targets up to 4.5 blocks away, but it cannot hit anything closer than 2 blocks, so you keep enemies at a distance rather than fighting toe to toe. A quick click stabs, piercing the target in front of you.
Hold the use button to lower the spear and charge. The faster you move relative to your target, the more damage the charge deals; at higher speed it also knocks the target back, and at full gallop it can knock a rider out of the saddle. A charge on horseback is the spear at its best.
Spears take the Lunge enchantment, which thrusts you forward after a stab at the cost of some hunger, along with the usual weapon enchantments. Piglins and other mobs can carry spears too.
