The house

The ground floor holds a living room with a one-storey bay window and its fireplace on the west, a double-height dining room under a north gable, the kitchen, a second sitting room with its own fireplace, and the double garage on the east. A Cobblestone entrance tower, one block taller than the rest, marks the front door. Upstairs: three bedrooms, a bathroom and balconies to the north, south and east. The walls are Smooth Sandstone on a Cobblestone slab that runs one block beyond the walls. The roofs are Stone Bricks stepping in one block per row, edged with Dark Oak Planks; the porch pillars are Dark Oak Fences and the balcony railings are Oak Leaves, as the plan asks.

Build order

  1. Slab. Cobblestone under the whole house and one block around, plus the north porch and the entrance porch. Oak Planks in the rooms, Cobblestone in the garage.
  2. Ground floor. Four rows of sandstone, and the tower in Cobblestone. Leave the dining room open to the roof. Build the staircase and the two hearths with their chimneys.
  3. Upper floor. The sixth layer is the floor, with the void over the dining room and the balconies. Four more rows of walls, then the leaf railings.
  4. Roofs. Seven volumes: the main body with an east-west ridge, the dining room gable to the north, the living room gable to the south, the tower, the two halves of the garage and the low roof of the bay window. Build each from its eave, one block in per row, and finish the edges with Dark Oak Planks.
  5. Finishing. Wooden garage doors, porch pillars and lanterns.

Interior

A proposal: sofas facing the fire and bookshelves in the living room, a long table in the dining room, a worktop on the south side of the kitchen, sofas and a low table in the second sitting room, storage at the back of the garage, and upstairs a bed in each of the three bedrooms with a tub and basin in the bathroom.

Credits

Plan by MyGodness & Courfeyracs, from the original article on minecraft.fr. The block choices and the interior are Blockaria's interpretation of that plan and its photos: the floor plan gives the walls, doors and windows, the photos give the heights and the roofs, and everything else is a proposal.

FAQ

Can I build it in survival?

Yes. Cobblestone and Stone Bricks are the bulk of it, plus smelted sandstone. Only the leaf railings need Shears.

Which part is the hardest?

The roofs, because seven volumes overlap. Place the Dark Oak edge of every roof first, then fill inwards layer by layer with the top view open.

What can I change?

Any wood works for the trim and the railings: Spruce Fences instead of leaves are easier to maintain. The attic under the main roof is empty and can take a fourth bedroom.

How many blocks do you need for the Large Traditional House?

3472 blocks of 26 types, over 17 layers. The biggest items: 1006 × Smooth Sandstone, 861 × Cobblestone, 626 × Oak Planks.

How do you place the Large Traditional House with a command?

Type /place template blockaria:large_traditional_house ~ ~ ~ in a world with cheats on. The build appears with its north-west bottom corner at your position.
