How to build an item sorter in Minecraft
This sorter takes mixed items from one chest and drops each kind into its own Barrel.
×4 Tested 26.3 A Barrel is a storage block with 27 slots, like a chest, that opens even with a block on top.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 6 × Oak Planks (or another variant) and 2 × Oak Slab (or another variant). It is mined with an axe. As fuel it burns for 15 seconds in a Furnace, enough to smelt 1.5 items.
What it does
Six planks and two wooden slabs make one. Unlike a chest it never forms a double container and opens whatever is above it, so barrels stack neatly in walls and floors. It can face any direction. An unemployed villager next to it becomes a fisherman.
