Step by step

  1. Layer 1, floor. Lay the Snow Block floor following the oval shape of the plan. One Oak Trapdoor sits in the floor: in the game it hides the ladder down to the basement.
  2. Layer 2, walls and furniture. Build the ring of Snow Blocks with the entrance gap and the two Ice windows. Inside, cover the floor with White Carpet and Light Gray Carpet, then place the Red Bed, the Crafting Table, the Furnace and the Redstone Torch.
  3. Layers 3 to 5, dome. Each layer of Snow Blocks closes in a little more, until the last layer seals the roof.

Tips

Snow Blocks are crafted from four snowballs, which a shovel collects from snow. Ice breaks without dropping anything unless your tool has Silk Touch: use Glass if you do not have it. When an igloo has no basement, the game replaces the trapdoor with a Snow Block, so you can do the same. The full structure, basement included, is on the igloo page.

FAQ

Does every igloo have a basement?

No. Only some igloos have a ladder under the trapdoor leading to a hidden basement. This blueprint covers the part above ground, which is the same in every igloo.

How do I get Ice for the windows?

Mine Ice with a Silk Touch tool, or replace the two Ice blocks with Glass, which you smelt from sand.

How many blocks do you need for the Igloo?

114 blocks of 9 types, over 5 layers. The biggest items: 94 × Snow Block, 9 × White Carpet, 3 × Light Gray Carpet.

How do you place the Igloo with a command?

Type /place template minecraft:igloo/top ~ ~ ~ in a world with cheats on. The build appears with its north-west bottom corner at your position.
