Potion of Invisibility how to brew it in Minecraft
A Potion of Invisibility hides your body from players and mobs, but not your armor or the items in your hands. It works best to slip past mobs or scout an area, as long as you accept walking around with little or no armor.
Brew it step by step
Put Blaze Powder in the fuel slot and up to 3 bottles at the bottom, then add each ingredient at the top.

What Invisibility does
Makes you invisible; mobs only notice you up close. Worn armor and held items still show.
Commands
/give @s minecraft:potion[potion_contents={potion:"minecraft:long_invisibility"}]/give @s minecraft:splash_potion[potion_contents={potion:"minecraft:long_invisibility"}]/give @s minecraft:lingering_potion[potion_contents={potion:"minecraft:long_invisibility"}]What invisibility really hides
Mobs do not ignore you completely: they only notice you once you are close. Every piece of armor you wear makes you easier to spot again, and armor and held items stay visible on screen for other players. A few swirling particles also drift around you from time to time, which is enough to give you away to an attentive player.
The Warden does not care at all. It is blind and tracks vibrations and smell, so being invisible changes nothing in an Ancient City. Sneaking remains your real protection there.
Good uses
- Crossing a dangerous area. A Nether Fortress, a Woodland Mansion corridor or a mob-heavy cave is easier to cross when most mobs only react at the last moment.
- Scouting. Check what waits in a structure before you come back geared up.
- Hide and seek with friends. Without armor, you are almost impossible to see in multiplayer.
How to get it
Brew a Potion of Night Vision, then add a Fermented Spider Eye. Extend the Night Vision with Redstone Dust before converting it, and you get the long version directly. The Wandering Trader also sells an extended Potion of Invisibility for emeralds, and drinks one himself when night falls.
Pitfalls
- A Spectral Arrow gives you Glowing, which shows your outline through walls even while you are invisible.
- Taking your armor off to stay hidden means any hit hurts much more. Keep a Potion of Healing at hand.
- A Milk Bucket removes the effect instantly, which is handy if you need to be seen again.

Potion of Invisibility — FAQ
Can mobs see you when you are invisible?
Yes, but only from much closer than usual. Each armor piece you wear makes you easier to detect again.
Does invisibility hide your armor?
No. Worn armor and the items in your hands stay visible. To be fully hidden, you have to take them off.
Does invisibility work against the Warden?
No. The Warden is blind and finds you through vibrations and smell, so the potion does not help.
How do you make a Potion of Invisibility?
Add Fermented Spider Eye to Potion of Night Vision in a brewing stand.
How long does a Potion of Invisibility last?
3:00 as a normal potion, 8:00 with Redstone.
