Potion of Freezing how to brew it in Minecraft
The Potion of Freezing is the combat potion of the 26.4 game drop. It is brewed from an Ice Ball and gives the Freezing effect: the target freezes as if it were stuck in powder snow, slows down and then takes cold damage. Nobody drinks it on purpose, it is made to be thrown.
UpcomingUpcoming content: available in 26.4 Snapshot 7 and expected in Minecraft 26.4. Data on this page comes from that snapshot and can still change before release.

What Freezing does
Slowly freezes the target, as standing in Powder Snow would: players shake, jump lower and end up taking damage. Leather Armor stops the freezing, but not the effect itself.

At a Brewing Stand, add an Ice Ball to an Awkward Potion (water and Nether Wart). You get a Potion of Freezing lasting 45 seconds. Add Redstone Dust to double it. There is no level II. Ice Balls come from Frostbites, the frozen zombies of cold biomes.
Watch the order: an Ice Ball added to a plain Water Bottle gives a useless Mundane Potion, so always start from the Awkward Potion.
What Freezing does
As long as the effect lasts, the target keeps freezing, exactly like in Powder Snow: frost covers the screen, movement slows down, and once fully frozen it starts taking damage. Since it hurts over time, it is a weapon, not a buff.
- Immune mobs: Strays, Polar Bears, Snow Golems, the Wither, Frostbites and the zombie family (Zombies, Drowned, Husks) ignore the cold.
- Extra damage: Blazes, Magma Cubes and Striders take more freezing damage than other mobs. This is the potion to bring to a Nether Fortress, with one catch: a Blaze stops freezing while it charges its fireballs, because it then counts as burning.
- Protection: while you wear any piece of leather armor, such as a Leather Tunic, the effect cannot freeze you. Being on fire does the same for as long as the flames last.
Best ways to use it
Add Gunpowder for a Splash Potion you throw at a group, then Dragon's Breath for a Lingering Potion that freezes everything crossing a corridor. Around a lingering potion, eight arrows become Tipped Arrows of Freezing for a Bow. If you get hit by your own cloud, a Milk Bucket clears the effect.

Potion of Freezing — FAQ
Why did my Ice Ball give a Mundane Potion?
You added it to a Water Bottle. Brew an Awkward Potion first with Nether Wart, then add the Ice Ball.
Does the Potion of Freezing work on zombies?
No. Zombies, Drowned and Husks are immune to freezing, like Strays and Polar Bears. Use it on Blazes, Magma Cubes, Striders and most other mobs.
How do I protect myself from Freezing?
Wear any piece of leather armor: as long as you have it on, the effect cannot freeze you. A Milk Bucket removes the effect entirely.
How do you make a Potion of Freezing?
Add Ice Ball to Awkward Potion in a brewing stand.
How long does a Potion of Freezing last?
0:45 as a normal potion, 1:30 with Redstone.
