The Frostbite is the frozen zombie of the 26.4 game drop. It lives in snowy biomes, throws Ice Balls from a distance and freezes you when it hits you in melee. It is also the only source of Ice Balls, the ingredient of the Potion of Freezing.

How much damage Frostbite deals
Damage to a player without armor, by world difficulty. 1 ♥ = 2 damage points.
Freezing: 3 sBase 1.4, multiplied by the projectile’s speed: the faster it flies, the harder it hits.
What else changes with difficulty
- Turns villagers into zombie villagers: Easy 0 %, Normal 50 %, Hard 100 %
- Can call other zombies for help when hit: Hard only
- Breaks wooden doors: Hard only
- Throws an Ice Ball every 3 s on Easy, 1–2 s on Normal, 0.75–1.5 s on Hard
- Aim gets more accurate as difficulty rises (spread 10 / 6 / 2)

Frostbites spawn at night in cold biomes such as Snowy Plains, Ice Spikes, Frozen Peaks and Frozen Oceans. They also appear anywhere a Zombie gets stuck in Powder Snow: zombies do not take damage from the cold, but after a while they freeze solid and become Frostbites. A Zombie wearing any piece of leather armor, such as a Leather Tunic, never converts. In water, the reverse happens: a Frostbite that stays submerged thaws back into a Zombie.
How it fights
A Frostbite attacks players, villagers, Iron Golems and turtles, like any zombie. From afar, it throws Ice Balls that deal damage. Up close, each hit also gives you the Freezing effect: your screen frosts over, you slow down and then take cold damage.
- Keep moving. Strafe sideways to dodge the Ice Balls and close in between two throws.
- Do not fight it in Powder Snow. You freeze faster, and the Frostbite does not care.
- Wear leather. With any piece of leather armor on, the Freezing effect from its hits cannot freeze you.
- Use daylight. Like a Zombie, it burns in the sun unless it wears a helmet.
- Bring Smite. It is undead and takes extra damage from it. A Milk Bucket clears Freezing.
Drops and Ice Balls
A Frostbite drops Rotten Flesh and up to three Ice Balls, more with Looting. You can throw Ice Balls yourself, but their main use is the brewing stand: an Ice Ball in an Awkward Potion gives the Potion of Freezing, which hurts Blazes and Magma Cubes extra.

How do I turn a Zombie into a Frostbite?
Trap it in Powder Snow and wait. The Zombie takes no freezing damage, and after a while it converts into a Frostbite. It must not wear any leather armor: a single piece stops the conversion.
Does the Frostbite freeze in Powder Snow?
No. It is immune to freezing, so a Powder Snow trap slows it but will never kill it.
Where does the Frostbite spawn?
In 8 Overworld biomes, for example Deep Frozen Ocean, Frozen Ocean and Frozen Peaks; Ice Caves.
What does a Frostbite drop?
Rotten Flesh and Ice Ball.
How much health does a Frostbite have?
24 health points, which is 12 hearts.
