Endermite mob in Minecraft
The Endermite is a tiny purple pest that sometimes appears where your ender pearl lands. It is weak and lives only a couple of minutes, but Endermen hate it, which makes it the key piece of most Enderman farms.

Command
/summon minecraft:endermite ~ ~ ~Where Endermites come from
Endermites do not spawn naturally and no spawner makes them. They come from ender pearls: each time a thrown pearl lands, there is a small chance that an Endermite appears next to you. If you travel by pearl a lot, in The End or while bridging, expect one now and then.
It looks like a purple cousin of the Silverfish, but it does not hide in blocks and does not call others. It is small enough to slip through gaps half a block high, so a slab ceiling does not stop it.
A short life
An Endermite despawns on its own after about two minutes. The only way to keep one is to give it a name with a Name Tag. A named Endermite stays for good, even when you walk far away, which is exactly what farms need. Without a name, the one you were planning to use as bait is gone before the farm is finished.
Endermites and Endermen
Endermen attack Endermites on sight. That rivalry is useful. A named Endermite placed at the kill spot of a farm, usually locked in a minecart so it cannot wander off, draws every Enderman around towards it. The Endermen come to you instead of you hunting them, and you collect their pearls safely.
How to fight one
- Look down. It is very small and close to the ground. Aim low and a couple of hits finish it.
- Use Bane of Arthropods if you have it: Endermites count as arthropods.
- Do not rely on powder snow. Endermites walk on it without sinking.
An Endermite drops nothing. Unless you need one as a lure, kill it and move on.
