Evoker mob in Minecraft
The Evoker is the spellcasting illager of woodland mansions and raids. It never fights with a weapon: it makes fangs burst from the ground and summons Vexes. Every Evoker drops a Totem of Undying, which makes it the most valuable illager to kill.

How much damage Evoker deals
Damage to a player without armor, by world difficulty. 1 ♥ = 2 damage points.
// Armor, Protection and Resistance reduce these values. Base values read from the game code (26.3).
Where to find Evoker
Doesn’t spawn naturally in a biome: it comes from a structure, a spawner, a block or an event.

Command
/summon minecraft:evoker ~ ~ ~Fangs and Vexes: the two spells
An Evoker raises its arms and gives off colored particles before each spell, which gives you a moment to react. It has two attacks:
- Fangs. When you are close, a ring of fangs snaps out of the ground around the Evoker. When you are farther away, a line of fangs runs toward you. Step to the side and the line misses.
- Vexes. It summons three Vexes, small flying spirits with swords that pass through walls. They do not last long: after a while they start to lose health and die on their own.
Between spells, the Evoker tends to back away from players instead of coming closer.
How to beat an Evoker
- Rush it. It has no melee attack at all. Sprint at it, preferably right after a cast, and hit it with everything you have.
- Kill it before the Vexes multiply. Each new cast adds more Vexes. Ending the fight fast is safer than fighting the Vexes one by one.
- Shoot from range with a bow when it stays out of reach, but keep moving sideways to dodge the fangs.
- Use Sweeping Edge or a shield to deal with the Vexes that do appear.
Where to find Evokers
A few Evokers are placed in every Woodland Mansion. They do not respawn there. The renewable source is raids: Evokers join the later waves, together with Vindicators, witches and Ravagers. That is why raid farms are the standard way to collect totems.
Totem of Undying
The Totem of Undying drops from every Evoker, whoever kills it. Hold it in your main hand or off hand: when you would die, the totem is used up instead, you stay alive and get Regeneration, Absorption and Fire Resistance for a short time. Players who kill an Evoker can also get an emerald.
The blue sheep trick
When an Evoker has no target, it can turn nearby blue sheep red with a spell. This only happens when mobs are allowed to change the world, the same game rule that controls Creeper damage.

Evoker — FAQ
Does an Evoker always drop a Totem of Undying?
Yes. The totem is in its loot table without any condition, so every Evoker drops one, even if it is not killed by a player.
How many Vexes does an Evoker summon?
Three per spell. It can cast again, so the number grows if the fight lasts.
Do Evokers respawn in mansions?
No. Mansion Evokers are placed once. For more totems, you need raids.
Where does the Evoker spawn?
Only in Woodland Mansions, where they are placed when the mansion generates, and in raids on villages, in the later waves. Raids are the renewable source of Totems of Undying.
What does an Evoker drop?
Totem of Undying and Emerald. Only when killed by a player: Emerald.
