Potion of Regeneration how to brew it in Minecraft
A Potion of Regeneration heals you steadily over time: half a heart every 2.5 seconds at level I, twice as fast at level II. Drink it before or early in a long fight, not at the last second, and it will out-heal Healing in total.
Brew it step by step
Put Blaze Powder in the fuel slot and up to 3 bottles at the bottom, then add each ingredient at the top.

Regeneration rewards planning. Drink it as a fight starts and it keeps topping you up while you trade blows. It shines in long fights: a raid, a Wither battle, a trial chamber room full of mobs, or the Ender Dragon, whose fight drags on for minutes.
For a last-second save, a Potion of Healing is better: it gives everything at once. Many players bring both.
Level II or long?
Level II heals twice as fast for half the time, so the total is close. Choose Level II when the damage comes in bursts and you need health back quickly. Choose the long version for slow, steady damage, or to stay healthy while exploring the Nether.
What to combine it with
- A Golden Apple adds a short burst of Regeneration and some Absorption hearts on top.
- A Beacon can give Regeneration as its secondary power, a permanent version for your base.
- The Potion of the Turtle Master, to take less damage while Regeneration repairs the rest.
Pitfalls
- Undead mobs ignore it. Splash Regeneration will not help a Skeleton Horse, and it will not heal a zombie you want to keep alive.
- Wither and Poison fight against it. While they drain you, Regeneration only slows the loss.
Getting Ghast Tears
Ghast Tears drop from Ghasts in the Nether, and that is the hard part: ghasts float over lava, and a tear that falls into it is gone. Fight them above solid ground, in a Soul Sand Valley for example, or lure them close before the killing blow.

Potion of Regeneration — FAQ
Is Regeneration better than Healing?
It heals more in total, but slowly. Healing is better as an emergency heal, Regeneration is better for long fights. Carrying both is ideal.
Does Regeneration work on undead mobs?
No. Undead mobs ignore Regeneration, just as they ignore Poison.
How do you get Ghast Tears safely?
Fight ghasts above solid ground so the tear does not fall into lava. The Soul Sand Valley is a good place, with few lava lakes.
How do you make a Potion of Regeneration?
Add Ghast Tear to Awkward Potion in a brewing stand.
How long does a Potion of Regeneration last?
0:45 as a normal potion, 1:30 with Redstone.
