Potion of Slow Falling how to brew it in Minecraft

A Potion of Slow Falling makes you drift down gently and cancels fall damage completely while it lasts. It is a safety net for building high, flying with an Elytra and fighting in the End, made from the membranes of the Phantoms that haunt sleepless players.

Brew it step by step

Put Blaze Powder in the fuel slot and up to 3 bottles at the bottom, then add each ingredient at the top.

What Slow Falling does

When Slow Falling saves you

Building tall. Working on a tower, a bridge or the top of a mega-build without scaffolding. One misstep becomes a slow glide instead of a death.
The End. The Ender Dragon can launch you high into the air. With Slow Falling, you float back down onto the island instead of crashing.
Levitation. A Shulker bullet lifts you up; when Levitation ends, the fall can kill you. Drink Slow Falling before it runs out.
Elytra flights. A safe landing when you run out of rockets or misjudge your altitude.
Going down fast. Step off a cliff or into a deep ravine and float to the bottom instead of building stairs.

Pitfalls

It does not save you from the void. Falling off an End island is still deadly, just slower. Slow Falling only helps if there is ground below you.
You are an easy target. While you drift, skeletons and other ranged mobs get plenty of time to shoot you.
Knockback carries you further. A hit while falling slowly sends you drifting sideways, sometimes off the edge you were trying to land on.

As a permanent alternative for your boots, Feather Falling reduces fall damage at all times, but it never cancels it the way the potion does.

Getting Phantom Membranes

Phantoms start appearing at night when a player has not slept for several days. They drop Phantom Membranes, so skipping sleep for a while is a way to farm them. The membranes also repair an Elytra on an Anvil, so keep a few spare.
