Vex mob in Minecraft
The Vex is the small winged spirit that an Evoker summons, armed with an iron sword. It flies straight through walls and floors, so hiding does not work: kill it quickly, or better, kill the Evoker that keeps calling it.

Command
/summon minecraft:vex ~ ~ ~Where Vexes come from
Vexes never spawn on their own in the world. They appear when an Evoker casts its summoning spell, three at a time, in Woodland Mansions and during raids. If you meet Vexes, an Evoker is nearby.
How a Vex attacks
A Vex flies freely and ignores blocks: it can come at you through a wall, the ceiling or the floor. It circles around, then dives at you and strikes with its iron sword. Its small size and fast, erratic flight make it hard to hit, especially when several of them attack together.
Vexes summoned by an Evoker are short-lived. After a while, they start to lose health and die on their own, even if nobody touches them. Walling yourself in will not save you, but surviving a few waves of Vexes while you deal with the Evoker is enough.
How to deal with Vexes
- Kill the Evoker first. Each new spell adds three Vexes. Ending the cast is the real fix.
- Use a sword with Sweeping Edge. A sweep hits several Vexes at once when they group around you.
- Block with a shield when a Vex dives, then strike back as it pulls away.
- Fight in a lit, open room so you can see them come out of the walls.
Vex or Allay?
The Allay is a friendly blue spirit that collects items for you. The Vex is grey, hostile and carries a sword. Both are found in mansions, the Allay locked in cells and the Vex only when an Evoker summons it.
A Vex leaves no loot behind, so there is no reason to farm them.
