Warden mob in Minecraft
The Warden is the strongest regular mob in the game, and it is not meant to be fought. It only appears in the Deep Dark, when you make too much noise near sculk shriekers. It cannot see: it tracks you by vibrations and by smell. The right strategy is almost always to stay quiet, and to leave if it comes.

Command
/summon minecraft:warden ~ ~ ~What summons a Warden
The Warden lives under the Deep Dark, around Ancient Cities. It appears when a naturally generated sculk shrieker is set off for the fourth time. A shrieker goes off when you step on it, or when a nearby sculk sensor picks up a vibration and passes it on. Each shriek also gives you the Darkness effect. After the fourth one, the Warden digs its way out of the ground nearby.
How it hunts you
- Vibrations: walking, jumping, placing or breaking a block, a projectile landing. It walks to the source of each one.
- Smell: when you stay close, it sniffs and locates you even if you make no sound.
- Melee: its punches are among the hardest hits in the game.
- Sonic boom: if it cannot reach you, it fires a sonic blast that passes through walls and ignores armor and shields.
It also pulses Darkness around itself while it is active. If it detects nothing for about a minute, it digs back into the ground.
How to explore without waking it
- Sneak. Moving while sneaking makes no vibration, so sculk sensors stay silent.
- Use wool. Wool blocks absorb vibrations. Placing wool over a sensor, or walking on wool carpets, keeps you quiet.
- Get Swift Sneak. This leggings enchantment, found only in Ancient City chests, lets you sneak at nearly walking speed.
- Distract it. A snowball or an arrow that lands somewhere else creates a vibration that draws the Warden away from you.
- Break shriekers carefully, or not at all: mining a block makes noise too.
Is it worth fighting?
Rarely. A Warden has a huge amount of health and only drops a sculk catalyst and a little experience. The loot you want, such as echo shards, Swift Sneak books and enchanted gear, is in the Ancient City chests. Fighting it makes sense only for a challenge, with full netherite gear and plenty of healing.
