Swift Sneak enchantment in Minecraft
Swift Sneak lets you move faster while sneaking: each level adds 15% of your normal walking speed, so Swift Sneak III takes you from 30% to 75% of it. It goes on leggings and is found only in Ancient City chests.

Sneaking keeps your footsteps from setting off Sculk Sensors and Sculk Shriekers, the blocks that end up summoning the Warden. In an Ancient City you want to sneak almost all the time, and without Swift Sneak that means crawling. With level III, sneaking is closer to a normal walk, which makes looting the Deep Dark much less tedious.
Swift Sneak does not make you quieter: sneaking is what keeps you silent. The enchantment only makes it faster.
Other uses
- Building along edges: sneaking stops you from walking off a block, and you no longer lose time doing it.
- Moving through gaps that are only one and a half blocks high.
- PvP, where sneaking makes your name tag harder to see.
Getting level III
Swift Sneak is a treasure enchantment: no enchanting table, no villager trade. Ancient City chests are the only source, and books there come in different levels. Two books of the same level combine into the next one on an anvil. Then add it to leggings alongside Protection, Unbreaking and Mending, as shown on the best leggings enchantments page.
