Piglin Brute mob in Minecraft
The Piglin Brute is the axe-wielding guard of Bastion Remnants. Unlike ordinary piglins, it ignores golden armor, attacks you on sight and hits much harder. It also does not respawn: once you have dealt with the brutes of a bastion, they are gone for good.

Command
/summon minecraft:piglin_brute ~ ~ ~Where you meet Piglin Brutes
Brutes are placed when a Bastion Remnant generates, and they never spawn anywhere else. Every bastion has a few of them, walking among the regular piglins. Since no new brute ever appears, clearing them once makes the bastion much safer for every later visit.
Why golden armor does not help
Ordinary piglins leave you alone if you wear gold. Brutes do not care: they attack any player they see. They are not interested in gold items either, so you cannot distract them by throwing ingots. And since brutes walk among piglins, one careless swing that hits a piglin turns the others hostile too.
How to fight a Piglin Brute
- Treat it like a mini-boss. Its golden axe hits very hard. Come with diamond or netherite armor, food and a way to heal.
- Shoot first. A bow or a crossbow from a ledge lets you weaken it while it walks to you. Bastions are full of gaps and walkways where it has to take the long way round.
- Drink a Potion of Strength to shorten the fight, and a Fire Resistance potion if lava is nearby.
- Do not count on Smite. A brute is not undead, so a Sharpness sword does more.
- Mind your footing. Bastions are built over lava. Fight away from the edges.
Brutes outside the Nether
Like a piglin, a brute taken to the Overworld or the End starts shaking and turns into a Zombified Piglin after about 15 seconds. That is rarely worth the trouble, but it does work as a way to get rid of one.
Why it is worth the fight
A brute drops nothing worth having. The reward is the bastion itself. Its chests can hold the Netherite Upgrade smithing template, ancient debris, blocks of gold, enchanted gear and the music disc Pigstep. Clear the brutes on the way in, rather than meeting them with your inventory full of loot.

Piglin Brute — FAQ

What does a Piglin Brute drop?
Nothing from its loot table, but it drops the weapon or armor it spawned with (8.5% chance per piece).
