Potion of Luck how to brew it in Minecraft

The Potion of Luck cannot be brewed: it exists only in the Creative inventory and through commands. Its Luck effect raises your luck stat, and in the base game the only loot that reacts to it is fishing, which gives more treasure and less junk.

What Luck does

BeneficialLuck

Raises your chances of treasure when fishing (in Java Edition, no chest loot uses Luck).

What Luck actually changes

Loot tables can give some entries a "quality" that makes them more or less likely depending on the player's luck. In the 26.3 game files, only the fishing tables use it: with Luck, treasure such as Enchanted Books, bows and name tags comes up more often, and junk less often.

It does not change chest loot, mob drops or ore drops. For those, Looting and Fortune are what count.

Who uses it

Fishing sessions in Creative or on servers. Stack it with Luck of the Sea on your Fishing Rod, which raises the same luck stat, and with Lure for faster bites.
Map makers and data packs. Custom loot tables can use quality on any entry, so a Potion of Luck becomes a real reward in an adventure map.

Getting one

There is no brewing recipe and no natural source in Survival. In Creative, it sits in the Food & Drinks tab with the other potions. Otherwise, use the commands shown on this page, or apply the effect directly with /effect give @s minecraft:luck.
