Crop farming basics, then an auto farm in Minecraft
each one has a 12.5% chance to drop Wheat Seeds.

Wheat is the harvest of the wheat crop, grown from Wheat Seeds on farmland. You cannot eat it raw, but it bakes into bread, cake and cookies, and it is the food that makes cows, sheep and goats breed.
It is made with the Crafting Table from Hay Bale. It can be composted: each one has a 65% chance to add a layer to a Composter.
Only a fully grown crop, golden and tall, gives wheat: one sheaf plus a few seeds to plant again. Breaking it earlier only returns the seed. Bonemeal speeds it up, and villagers with the farmer job harvest and replant fields on their own.
Three wheat in a row make a loaf of Bread, the first reliable food of many games. A Cake needs three wheat with milk, sugar and an egg, and two wheat around cocoa beans give eight Cookies. Nine wheat pack into a Hay Bale, which also softens falls, and mixed with mud it makes Packed Mud.
Holding wheat makes Cows, mooshrooms, Sheep and goats follow you, and feeding two of them makes them breed. It also feeds horses and llamas. A novice Farmer buys wheat for emeralds.

At the Crafting Table: 1 × Hay Bale gives 9 × Wheat. Mining the block drops it, and it can also drop Wheat Seeds. It can be found as loot in Pillager Outpost, Ocean Ruins, Village, Igloo and 4 more. Bought by Villager: Farmer (Novice).
It makes bread, cake, cookies, hay bales and packed mud, and breeds cows, sheep and goats. It is an ingredient in 5 recipes, made at the Crafting Table; for example Hay Bale and Packed Mud. Animals that eat it: Cow, Mooshroom, Goat, Horse, Donkey and 4 more.
Yes. Each Wheat put in a Composter has a 65% chance to add a layer (the first layer in an empty Composter always works). After 7 layers the Composter gives Bone Meal.
No: when a piston pushes it, it breaks and drops as an item.
