Dolphin's Grace effect in Minecraft

Dolphin's Grace makes you swim much faster. You get it by sprint-swimming next to a Dolphin, and it fades a few seconds after you leave them, so it is a travel boost for the open sea rather than an effect you carry around.

How to get Dolphin's Grace

Swim close to a Dolphin while sprinting and it passes the effect to you. Dolphins travel in pods in warm, lukewarm and temperate oceans and like to swim alongside players, so once you have found a pod, it often keeps you company for a while. Sprint-swim with them and the effect keeps refreshing.

Follow a dolphin to treasure

Give a dolphin a Raw Cod or a Raw Salmon and it swims off toward the nearest Shipwreck or Ocean Ruins. Follow it with the effect active and you get there quickly. Shipwrecks hold the map to Buried Treasure, so this is a fast route to a Heart of the Sea.

What it does not do

Dolphin's Grace only helps you move. It does not help you breathe, so pair it with a Potion of Water Breathing for long trips, or ride a Nautilus for Breath of the Nautilus. Depth Strider boots add even more speed.

Never hit a dolphin: the whole pod fights back. Dolphins also need air and dry out on land, so leave them in the sea.
