What you need
all free · links go to our pagesCreate is a tech mod where machines run on rotation. Your first setup is a Water Wheel turning Shafts, a Mechanical Press making Iron Sheets, then a windmill: blocks glued together that spin as one piece, which Create calls a contraption. Create 6.0.10 runs on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
Install Create on NeoForge 1.21.1
Create a NeoForge 1.21.1 profile or instance (NeoForge 21.1.219 or later) and put the Create file from Modrinth or CurseForge in the mods folder. Flywheel and Ponder are already inside it. The steps for the loader are in how to install NeoForge. Adding JEI lets you look up every Create recipe in game.
Hover over any Create item in your inventory and hold W to Ponder: an animated scene shows how the block works.
Craft Andesite Alloy and Andesite Casing
Almost every early Create block uses Andesite Alloy. Put 2 Andesite and 2 Iron Nuggets diagonally in a 2 × 2 grid: you get 1 alloy. Then hold the alloy and right-click a stripped log or stripped wood placed in the world: it becomes Andesite Casing.
Make rotation with a Water Wheel
Craft 2 Andesite Alloy in a column for 8 Shafts, then 8 planks around 1 Shaft for a Water Wheel. Place the wheel so that flowing water runs along it: a current, not a still source. Covering more sides does not add power.
| Source | Speed | Stress capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Water Wheel | 8 RPM | 256 SU (32 per RPM) |
| Large Water Wheel | 4 RPM | 512 SU (128 per RPM) |
| Hand Crank | while you turn it | 8 SU per RPM |
Carry it with Shafts and Cogwheels
Shafts pass rotation in a straight line. A Cogwheel (1 Shaft + 1 plank, shapeless) turns the cogwheels next to it, and a large cogwheel set diagonally against a small one doubles the speed one way and halves it the other way. Once you have Golden Sheets (next step), the Wrench rotates a placed block without breaking it.
Press Iron Sheets on a Depot
Craft a Mechanical Press (Shaft on top, Andesite Casing in the middle, Block of Iron below) and a Depot (Andesite Alloy + Andesite Casing, shapeless). Place the Depot, then the Press two blocks above it, with one empty block in between, and connect the Press to your shaft line. Drop Iron Ingots on the Depot: the Press flattens them into Iron Sheets. Gold Ingots become Golden Sheets the same way.
The Press costs 8 SU per RPM, so 64 SU at the 8 RPM of a Water Wheel: one wheel easily runs it.
Glue your first contraption: a windmill
- Craft Super Glue: 2 Slimeballs, 1 Iron Sheet and 1 Iron Nugget.
- Craft a Windmill Bearing (wooden slab, stone, Shaft in a column) and place it facing open air.
- Place any block on its front, then at least 8 Windmill Sails around that block. One wool, 2 sticks and 1 Andesite Alloy make 2 sails.
- With Super Glue in hand, click two opposite corners of the whole structure to glue it.
- Right-click the bearing: the structure starts turning and the shaft behind it delivers power.
Speed is 1 RPM for every 8 sails, up to 16 RPM, with 512 SU of capacity per RPM. Right-click the bearing again to stop it and edit the blades.
Read the stress before you expand
Engineer's Goggles (1 String, 2 Glass and 1 Golden Sheet) show the speed, Kinetic Stress Capacity and Kinetic Stress Impact of any block you look at. When the machines ask for more than the sources give, the network turns Overstressed and stops. Add a source or slow down the machines that need less speed.
FAQ
Is Create available for Minecraft 26.3?
Not yet. Create 6.0.10, the latest release, is for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Use a separate 1.21.1 instance.
Can I play Create on Fabric?
The official Create files for 1.21.1 are NeoForge only. Create Fabric is a separate project that stops at Minecraft 1.20.1.
What does Overstressed mean?
Your machines ask for more stress than your sources provide, so the whole network stops. Add a source, such as a second Water Wheel, or remove machines.
Do I need other mods with Create?
No. Flywheel and Ponder, which Create needs, are already inside the Create file. JEI is handy to look up every Create recipe.
