What you need
all free · links go to our pagesLitematica shows a saved build as ghost blocks in your world so you can copy it block by block. Install it with MaLiLib on Fabric, put the schematic file in the schematics folder, press M, then Load Schematics and Load Schematic. The build appears at your feet, ready to move and rotate.
Install Litematica and MaLiLib
For Minecraft 26.3, Litematica 0.29.1 needs Fabric Loader and MaLiLib 0.30.2 or a later 0.30 build. Put both files in the mods folder. Litematica runs only on your side: it works in singleplayer and on any server without being installed there.
There is no official NeoForge build for current versions. If you have never installed a mod, start with how to install Fabric.
Put the schematic in the schematics folder
Litematica reads files from the schematics folder of your game directory: .minecraft/schematics with the official launcher, or the instance folder in Prism Launcher, the Modrinth App or CurseForge. Create the folder if it does not exist yet.
It loads four formats: .litematic (its own), .schem (Sponge, used by WorldEdit), .schematic (old MCEdit) and .nbt (vanilla structure files).
Load it into your world
- Stand where you want the build to start and press M to open the Litematica menu.
- Click Load Schematics and select your file in the list.
- Leave Create a placement ticked and click Load Schematic.
The build appears as ghost blocks, its origin on the block you stand on. On a keyboard other than QWERTY, M can sit on another key: check the Litematica hotkeys with M + C.
Move and rotate the placement
Press minus on the numeric keypad, or M + P then Configure, to open the placement settings. Rotation turns the build by 90 degrees, Mirror flips it, Move to player brings it to your position, and the X, Y and Z fields set the exact origin.
For small corrections, hold a Stick (the Litematica tool item), look in a direction and scroll with Alt held: the placement moves one block per step.
Get every block from the material list
Press M + L to open the Material List of the selected placement. It shows the Total of each block, how many are still Missing and how many you already have Available in your inventory. Turn on Info HUD to keep the missing blocks on screen while you gather them.
Build it layer by layer
- M + Page Up: switch from showing all layers to showing one layer at a time.
- Page Up and Page Down: move one layer up or down.
- Middle click on a ghost block: puts the matching block from your inventory in your hand.
- M + G: hide or show the ghost blocks.
Easy Place mode places a block exactly where you right-click a ghost block. Turn on easyPlaceMode in M + C, Generic. In singleplayer it also sets the right orientation; on most servers only top slabs are corrected, and anti-cheat plugins may ban you for it, so check the server rules first.
Check your build with the Schematic Verifier
Press M + V and click Start verification. The Schematic Verifier lists Missing Blocks, Wrong Blocks, Wrong States (a block facing the wrong way, for example) and Extra Blocks. Fix what it lists, then run the check again until the list is empty.
Using shaders? Turn them off while you build: since Minecraft 1.21.3 the ghost blocks do not render properly with shader packs, even with Iris.
FAQ
Does Litematica work on servers?
Yes. Litematica is client-side only, so you can use it on any server without installing anything there. The Easy Place mode can trigger anti-cheat plugins: ask the server staff first.
Is there Litematica for NeoForge or Forge?
Not from its authors for modern versions: the official files are for Fabric, plus an old Forge build for 1.12.2. Ports for other loaders are made by third parties.
Can Litematica build the schematic for me?
No. Litematica shows the build and lists the materials, but you place the blocks. Automatic printers are separate extension mods.
Why are my ghost blocks invisible?
Turn shaders off: since Minecraft 1.21.3, Litematica's rendering does not work properly with shader packs, Iris included. Also check M + G and M + R, which toggle the schematic rendering.
