Your first night in Minecraft, then the first 10 hours
Craft a Wooden Pickaxe (3 Planks on top, 2 Sticks below in the middle) and mine 3 Cobblestone from any exposed stone.

The Wooden Pickaxe is a pickaxe, the mining tool for stone, ores and metal blocks. Its material decides which ores drop something when broken. Made from planks, it lasts 59 uses and mines stone and coal ore, but iron ore and anything harder drop nothing with it. It works like every other pickaxe; the Iron Pickaxe page explains mining tiers and enchantments.
It is made with the Crafting Table from 2 × Stick and 3 × Oak Planks (or another variant). As fuel it burns for 10 seconds in a Furnace, enough to smelt 1 items.
3 × Any of #wooden_tool_materials + 2 × Stick → Wooden Pickaxe
// Slots with several items cycle through every accepted option.
