Bone item in Minecraft

What it does

Give bones to a wild Wolf and each one has a chance to tame it; when hearts appear, the wolf sits, wears a collar and follows you. Tamed wolves fight at your side, so a few spare bones are worth carrying when you explore taigas and forests.

Crafted on its own, a bone gives three Bone Meal. That makes skeleton farms and dungeon spawners a steady source of fertilizer, white dye and bone blocks.

Besides skeletons, strays, bogged and parched, bones turn up in dungeons, desert and jungle temples, ancient cities and as fishing junk.
