Basalt Deltas biome in Minecraft
Basalt Deltas are the most chaotic biome in the Nether: jagged basalt columns, blackstone, small lava pools rimmed with magma and white ash falling through a hazy fog. Crossing them is slow and dangerous, but they hold more gold and quartz than any other Nether biome and endless blackstone.

What you find in Basalt Deltas
The terrain is a mix of Basalt and Blackstone, broken up by basalt columns of every size. Between them lie the deltas themselves: small pools of lava with a rim of Magma Blocks. Magma Blocks hurt you when you walk on them, unless you sneak or wear boots with Frost Walker. White ash falls through a grey-purple fog that limits how far you can see.
More gold and quartz
This biome generates twice as many veins of Nether Gold Ore and Nether Quartz Ore as the other Nether biomes. Quartz gives experience when you mine it and crafts smooth white blocks, redstone comparators and daylight detectors, while the gold ore drops gold nuggets. Blackstone works like cobblestone for stone tools, furnaces and brewing stands, so you never run out of crafting stone in the Nether.
Surviving the deltas
The Magma Cube spawns here in large numbers. Big ones split into smaller cubes when killed, and they can drop Magma Cream, the ingredient of the Potion of Fire Resistance. The Ghast spawns here too, and striders walk on the lava pools. The ground is uneven and full of holes into lava, so move slowly, bridge across instead of jumping, and drink a fire resistance potion before you explore. A Nether Fortress can cross the deltas, which makes them worth a look despite the trouble.

Bastion Remnants never generate in this biome. Look for them in the Nether Wastes, the Soul Sand Valley or the two Nether forests instead.
