Basalt is the raw, ridged block. Basalt is a dark gray volcanic stone of the Nether, shaped like a column.
It is mined with a pickaxe.
What it does
It forms the basalt deltas and the pillars of soul sand valleys. You can also make it anywhere: lava flowing over Soul Soil next to Blue Ice turns into basalt, which feeds endless basalt generators.
Basalt and polished basalt are pillar blocks that follow the face you place them on. Four basalt make four polished basalt, and smelting basalt gives smooth basalt, a plain block that also forms the outer shell of amethyst geodes.
