Crop farming basics, then an auto farm in Minecraft
Villages grow Wheat, Carrots, Potatoes and Beetroots.

The Potato is a crop you plant directly: put one on farmland and it grows into a potato plant that gives several back. Raw it is a poor meal, but baked it becomes one of the best early foods.
It cannot be crafted; it can be found in chests. It can be composted: each one has a 65% chance to add a layer to a Composter.
A raw potato restores a single hunger point. A Baked Potato, cooked in a furnace, smoker or on a campfire, restores five with good saturation, as much as cooked cod, so a potato field and a furnace go a long way.
Mature potato plants drop one to four potatoes, more with Fortune. Now and then a harvest also includes a Poisonous Potato, which is better composted than eaten.
Pigs follow you and breed with potatoes, and village farmers plant them. Zombies occasionally drop one, villages store them in their houses, and a novice Farmer buys them for emeralds.

Villages grow Wheat, Carrots, Potatoes and Beetroots.
Bread counts 4, a Carrot, Potato or Beetroot counts 1, so 3 Bread or 12 Carrots per villager.
It can be found as loot in Pillager Outpost, Village and Shipwreck. It is dropped by Husk, Zombie and Zombie Villager. Bought by Villager: Farmer (Novice).
It is planted on farmland, baked into a filling food and used to breed pigs. It is an ingredient in one recipe: Baked Potato. Animals that eat it: Pig.
1 hunger points (0.5 drumsticks) and 0.6 saturation.
Yes. Each Potato put in a Composter has a 65% chance to add a layer (the first layer in an empty Composter always works). After 7 layers the Composter gives Bone Meal.
A Balanced Diet (Eat everything that is edible, even if it's not good for you).
