Frost Walker enchantment in Minecraft
Frost Walker freezes the water around your feet into Frosted Ice as you walk, so you can cross lakes and seas on foot. It also stops Magma Blocks and Campfires from hurting you when you stand on them. It is a treasure enchantment, never offered by the enchanting table.

Each time you move, still water around you turns into Frosted Ice, in a circle that grows with the level: a radius of 3 blocks at level I, 4 at level II. A few rules decide what freezes:
- Only water sources with air above them, so flowing water and anything under the surface stay liquid.
- You must be on your feet and on the ground. It does nothing while you ride a horse or sit in a boat.
- Frosted Ice melts back into water after a while. Keep moving: if you stop in the middle of a lake, it melts under you.
The heat protection
Frost Walker cancels the damage from standing on a Magma Block or a Campfire. It does nothing against fire or lava themselves; for those, use Fire Protection.
Getting it and choosing it
Since the table never offers it, the reliable source is a librarian villager. Treasure books cost more emeralds there. Enchanted books from chests and fishing can also carry it.
Frost Walker and Depth Strider cannot share a pair of boots. Depth Strider is the better all-round pick; Frost Walker suits a travel pair. The best boots enchantments page compares both builds.

Does Frost Walker work on a horse or in a boat?
No. It only works when you are on foot and touching the ground.
Does Frost Walker protect you from lava?
No. It only cancels the damage from standing on Magma Blocks and Campfires. Fire Protection or a Potion of Fire Resistance are what help against lava.
Why does the ice disappear behind me?
Frost Walker makes Frosted Ice, which melts back into water after a short time. It is meant as a path, not a permanent bridge.
Can you get Frost Walker from an enchanting table?
No. Frost Walker is a treasure enchantment: it comes from villagers, chests or fishing, never from the table.
What is the max level of Frost Walker?
