/time set dayJumps the clock of your dimension to the day marker, 1000 ticks into the day.

The /time command controls the world clocks. It jumps to day or night, adds ticks, pauses a clock or changes how fast it runs. Use it to skip a night while building, freeze the light for screenshots or read the day count for a map or a data pack.

/time set dayCalculated from the Java Edition 26.3 game files
In 26.3, time belongs to a world clock. The Overworld and the End each have their own, the Nether has none. Plain /time set day acts on the clock of the dimension you are in, while /time of minecraft:overworld set day targets a clock by name from anywhere.
A timeline is a cycle that follows a clock. minecraft:day lasts 24,000 ticks and minecraft:moon 192,000 ticks, eight days for all moon phases. /time query minecraft:day gives the position in the current day, and repetition counts the days already passed. The markers day, noon, night and midnight come from the day timeline.
of.day marker, add of minecraft:overworld./time add 20 is one second, not twenty. To stop the day and night cycle, use /time pause or the rule advance_time with /gamerule. /weather handles rain on its own. /tick slows the whole game, not only the clock, and /execute store saves any query result in a score.
✓ Checked in Java Edition 26.3 · updated 2 November 2026
Run /time pause to stop the clock and /time resume to restart it. Setting the game rule advance_time to false also keeps the time of day still.
The Nether has no clock of its own. Use /time of minecraft:overworld set day, which works from any dimension.
